Fashion Scout, the international showcase for fashion pioneers, is delighted to announce the four winners of Ones to Watch for London Fashion Week SS18: NEO design, Ji Won Choi, Triinu Pungits and Starsica.
Selected from a long list of emerging designers by a panel of industry experts including Martyn Roberts, Fashion Scout’s Founder and Director, the Ones To Watch winners receive the opportunity to showcase on the catwalk during London Fashion Week. Fashion Scout’s Ones To Watch provides a unique platform for the brightest new designers, with many going on to become established labels in the international fashion industry.
Created in 2014, this collaborative show is now in its 9th Season and continues to be one of the most anticipated shows during LFW. Ones to Watch is instrumental in raising the profile of emerging design on a global scale. Previous winners include; Eudon Choi, Georgia Hardinge, Phoebe English, Helen Lawrence, EDDA and Typical Freaks, alongside AW17 winners Joanna Berling, Krasimira Stoyneva, Orange Culture and RU.
The Ones To Watch show plays a major role in the promotion of design innovation. This show in designed to develop business internationally and has been created to generate maximum media and buyer attendance.
Graduate of Parsons School of Design, Ji Won Choi presented her thesis collection, EXCESSIVISM, at the Parsons benefit in May 2017. The collection was the winner of Kering Empowering Imagination Award and the Yooxygen Award by YOOX alongside being finalist in Eyes on Talent. Ji Won Choi has been featured in Vogue Italia, Vogue USA, Love, Modern Weekly, I-D, Bullett, Dezeen, and Fucking Young to name a few.
With bold colours, silhouettes and ideas, Ji Won Choi focuses on investigating social issues in an exciting way. EXCESSIVISM highlights the amount of excessive waste in the closets studied around the world. Sustainability is a key driving force in the brand, seeking to break the stigma of traditional sustainable fashion. Every collection is seasonless and genderless with a lively aesthetic, seeking to make sustainability in fashion the standard.
Ji Won Choi said on winning a Ones To Watch award, “As an emerging designer and brand, it is extremely encouraging to have so much support from Fashion Scout. Winning the Ones to Watch Award means a great deal, because it gives young designers a voice, and that’s all I’ve wanted really – to be heard. It’s a grand privilege to be a part of this incredible platform and show. I am crazy excited to have this opportunity to present my debut collection.”
The STARSICA brand originates from the “Star Seeker”, a wise man character from a fantasy novel. The collection has a DNA originating from the philosophical reasoning of phenomenon. It emphasises luxurious everyday wear seen through the lens of an anxious modern society. The brand simultaneously excludes modern elegance whilst adopting an experimental approach, culminating in innovative design enhanced by beautiful attention to detail.
Ike Seungik Lee was overjoyed when he was offered the chance to participate in Fashion Scout’s Ones to Watch: “Being a part of Ones to Watch is a great stepping stone to show my brand’s identity at LFW. I believe that it is the perfect opportunity to grow my brand STARSICA to the international level.”
Estonian fashion designer Triinu Pungits has taken part in numerous fashion shows and exhibitions, receiving international praise for her work, which has been featured in Vogue Italia, British Vogue, Glamour and Elle Russia among others. Championing texture, shape, cut, pattern placement and self-confidence, Triinu was a finalist at the prestigious International Talent Support (ITS) fashion competition and a semi-finalist at the International Festival of Fashion and Photography in Hyères (2016).
Triinu Pungits designs follow the philosophy that body and mind should always harmoniously interact. Bold yet tasteful adoption of different colours, shapes, digital prints and cuts, give the brand a distinctive yet tasteful hand. All digital prints used in Triinu Pungits’s collections have been created by Triinu herself and thoughtfully applied to the garment. Hand-made, one-of-a-kind coats are the trademark of Triinu Pungits.
Triinu Pungits on winning the OTW award: “Being able to showcase my collection during LFW is highly motivating and it gives me great ambition to utilise this opportunity to the fullest. It can be quite a challenge for an emerging designer to break through and show their work to a wider audience and therefore I will be forever grateful to Fashion Scout’s team for giving me this amazing and encouraging opportunity to be part of the Ones to Watch show.”
NEO design strives to bring traditional techniques of making clothing and jewelry to a new age in which functionality will benefit from a tradition inspired by simplicity. Based on a new vision of functionality, clothing, jewelry and accessories are intertwined throughout the design process to form a multifunctional unit which adapts to the wearer. Connectivity between the past and the future is necessary for a strong and healthy society and NEO is trying to provide it through clothing designed for the powerful and artistic.
In the past year NEO design has been awarded multiple prizes including Fashion Scout South.East.Europe Award, that brought an opportunity to present the ATEHNEO collection during this LFW on the One the Watch platform. NEO design also qualified as an 2017 European finalist in The Woolmark prize, one of the biggest fashion competitions in the world.
“I was so excited to win the One To Watch award, it is a great honour to be “one of four” for this year and to have a chance to present my designs through the show at London Fashion Week. This award motivates me to go further and to test my boundaries, ideas and possibilities. That is why this is the most important thing that has happened to me this year.”

Fashion Scout will present its Ones to Watch during London Fashion Week on Friday 15th September at 4.30pm in The Gallery Catwalk, Freemasons’ Hall, London.
